Dr. Beaver provided great care - worked through options for a severe foot fracture and laid out the pros/cons of surgery vs non-surgical options. Staff was great overall, I even received a phone call to get pre-appointment details which allowed his team to be ready for my appt. Went in with very little wait including x-rays and being seen and going through all my questions.

Watch out for Alexa. She controls that office. Dr beaver allows her to make choices. She will tell you what you want to hear. Dr beaver was highly recommended by other dr in corpus. Not a good choice. I started this journey in October of last year and here I am 4/16/24. Still not any better. I need a complete ankle replacement. Or that’s what dr beaver said. So they played me for a fool I guess I trust too much. Don’t let this happen to you.

I have bunions on both my feet. For over 40 years I've been delaying the inevitable. It did not hurt to walk early on, but in the last year or two it has become progressively painful...even for short distances. I finally decided to search for a really good Orthopedic Surgeon, one who specializes in the Foot and Ankle and especially for the case of bunions. I was in constant pain.

I consulted with Dr. Richard Beaver, UT Ortho, at his office off of Katy Freeway. I found Dr. Beaver to be knowledgeable, professional, meticulous and personable. His experience with bunion surgery is substantial and advanced in technology. He was very patient and explained to me exactly what was causing my foot pain and the procedures needed for its correction. I had many questions and he answered them all. If I was anxious and nervous during consultation, I left Dr. Beaver feeling confident and reassured that I was in good hands. In addition, Dr. Beaver had a great staff. They were friendly, supportive and efficient. I've read reviews that criticized the sometimes long wait times but I believe that waiting to see a good physician is worth it.

I did have my surgery a week ago and am truly delighted. Recovery so far has been smooth with minimal discomfort or pain. After the administering of 2 nerve blocks for surgery, all that I needed to take at home was Tylenol (even though I was sent home with much stronger pain medication). I saw Kristina Patrick, APRN for my post-op check. She was also very knowledgeable, supportive and patient. I'm now on the road to recovery with a beautiful, functioning left foot. I intend to have surgery on my right foot as soon as I am able with Dr. Beaver.

This review isn't about Dr. Beaver directly but his staff and lack of communication.

1st situation - I had requested to have an estimate sent to me before I was officially going to schedule the surgery. I was told I'd receive it within the week. When I didn't receive it, I called multiple times, left voice messages, and sent emails asking for the estimate and received no responses back. Needless to say, I did not schedule my surgery.

2nd situation - I needed to get a copy of my xrays and I have been given the run around. I called the main office and the phone prompt does not provide a general line or operator option to ask questions. I ended up going to the portal to ask my question and there wasn't even a "general" option in the message selection and was forced to choose "Concerns about your care". I received a voicemail with medical staff to contact and different ways to receive the xrays but gave me the same main office line with no direct number. I finally found an email for one of the staff members and haven't heard back. I went back to the portal to send another message asking for the direct phone line. I have left a few voice messages and have not yet to hear back.

Receiving your xrays should not be this difficult and shouldn't take this long to receive responses.

I had a shattered calcaneus (heel) bone in May of 2021. After thorough research, I decided on Dr. beaver for the surgery to get me back on my feet. It was definitely a severe fracture that required a lot of work. I saw Dr. Bever multiple times after the surgery and I healed properly with the help of a good diet and physical therapy. I can’t think him enough for his professionalism and the care he took. Strongly recommend.

I went to go see Dr. Beaver after breaking my ankle in 2018. He had x-rays taken and confirmed that it was indeed broken. He showed me how the bone was lined up but definitely separated. He said my case was on the line of surgery or no surgery. It could go either way. Then he said something that made me seriously question his credibility. He asked me, "So are you walking on it yet? You should start walking on it as soon as possible" I was shocked! I answered, "Do you have any idea how incredibly painful that would be?!?" He answered me, "Well different people have different pain tolerances." He prescribed me a boot that was very painful and did nothing. I threw the boot away and went to CVS and bought a brace which served me well.
I went to a very well known doctor in Houston and told him what Dr. Beaver had said about me walking on it as soon as possible. He was aghast! He said, " You never walk on a broken bone." After thinking about it for a few minutes I figured out that either Dr. Beaver really didn't know a person shouldn't walk on a broken bone or he was trying to mess my ankle up more so he could charge me for a surgery. I can't post a review until I click on at least 1 star but in my book Dr. Beaver receives no stars from me. I would not trust him with any bone in my body because all he wants to do is mess you up more so he can do surgery.

THE WORST POSSIBLE CARE YOU COULD EVER BE GIVEN. Dr Beaver I went to after twice breaking my ankle in a car wreck. He told me not much, that it would be fine surgery and afterwards I’d be fine. Not the case. I woke up 8:30am that morning screaming, now when I first went
To doctors they couldn’t believe I wasn’t on anything for pain. They’d never seen someone with such a high pain tolerance - now I’m being given hydrocodone 10 pills after I was already on them 2 weeks prior to surgery. I called yesterday have not been able to set my foot down for close my eyes since this, they keep saying “that’s all he can do for
Pain” “go to the er then” and their answer to everything was not come in and let’s check you out? It was idk go to the emergency room. Day 2 I call, still have no slept I call at about 9 or 10. My foot is now completely swollen OVER MY CAST and they even had the audacity to try to tell me “I could fix it myself”. How? I am not a doctor and I can barely type this review in pain. I get a call at 4pm saying I can come in …. ON A FRIDAY. There’s no possible way I could get there. This is MALPRACTICE. NEVER GO FOR SURGERY HERE. MALPRACTICE.
